midnight madness

Months ago the boys were discussing the upcoming Harry Potter movie and how happy they were that it was PG. Allen mentioned how they would probably have a midnight showing for it(Allen has attended several midnight showing for various movies and the boys are always so jealous). Then he said with a smirk, "maybe your mom will take you all to it". (I have read all the books and seen the movies, Allen has not) Well, I called his bluff and said I thought that was a great idea. My cool mom status instantly went through the roof as I was covered with hugs, kisses and requests for reassurance from Carter and Jared.

This week was the show. In the end we got some of Carter and Jared's friends and parents to join us. We had to have a meal at Steak and Shake, just like Dad and his friends, before the movie. We got into the theater a hour and a half before show time and the kids had a great time at this "party". About 50% of the audience was dressed up and Harry Potter songs were sung, spells were casts, predictions about the movie were made, candy was eaten, I even saw some kids watching #5 on a lap top. I loved seeing the smiles never leave the boys faces. I loved the stream of thank yous I received. I loved sharing this memory with them. I pointed out to the boys that there seemed to be no one else even close to their age in attendance. Cool mom status still at an all time high.

As we left the theater at 2:30 am with tired smiles on our faces, I couldn't think of anything else I would rather be doing at that moment.

Wow! What an adventure! It is, indeed, something the boys will never, ever forget. I'll just call you "cool Mom" from now on.

Cool story. Lucky boys. Thanks for not spoiling any of the plot.

I wish I'd been in Knoxville so I could have been a cool aunt and gone with you.

BTW, the kids will have different teachers. It's the school's policy and I don't care enough to fight it---it will be good for them.

how fun--we just saw it last night. I wish we had gone to one of these potter parties before (they once made the grove (outdoor mall thing in west Los Angeles) like a whole hogwarts school/village. why didn't we go???? I'm glad the kids adore you even more!
