akumal

Our spring break in Akumal, Mexico turned out great. We spent one day at Xel-Ha. There we snorkeled, zip-lined into water, walked across a rope bridge, rested on hammocks, and jumped off cliffs. We got a great tour of the Mayan ruins of Tulum (a place I went with my family in 1990). The rest of the time we spent out at the beach, pool and make-shift soccer field (kids played "world cup" every day). We had a great time and having the Sextons there made it even better.

Here is a video of our first jump off the 14ft cliff. Yes, Jared went first!! Sometimes he surprises us.

chocolate fountain

The other day Jared had a request. He asked if we could do our chocolate fountain and this time could he have more than a few things before the adult guests arrived and he was sent upstairs to bed. We have not done our fountain in years and just a few times. I had not realized that the kids never got to fully enjoy it. So, I let Jared decide what food would be used to dip in the chocolate and he did all the prep work-cutting, deciding what plates/bowls to use, how much of each food item we should have, etc. It was fun to watch him take on this job and he did great. And we all enjoyed the chocolate fountain.

Claire's words

Claire came home from church this past Sunday and wrote this down:

Hi, I'm Claire. I just want to tell you about Jesus. Jesus is real. He is our brother. He loves us. That is why he died for us. I know that he is real. That is why we have Sunday. I want to be like Jesus. I love him. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

I am one proud mom.
