Halloween 2014

Halloween 2014 was cold.  Very cold, and sometimes rainy.  Claire borrowed a friends costume (doughnut with sprinkles) from last year to wear at her school's "spook parade" hoping to win most original, but she didn't.

That night she changed into something more comfortable.  We all went over to our friends subdivision that we have been going to for the last few years.  They have dinner and a fire pit set up in their cul-de-sac where we can all gather and then we walk around with Claire and her friends while the boys go off with their friends "trick or treating"=run around the subdivision. Claire stopped when it started raining sideways and we were all glad to be done early.

halloween cross dressing

Halloween weekend was an odd one this year...and the costumes seemed to fall right in line. Carter's last minute "dirty laundry" was a hit. Claire was a "bat queen" (obviously), and Jared went through old costumes and came up with his.

For the school spook parade Claire was again the bat queen (do you notice her pose? I swear I've seen that exact pose in some magazine add. I should do a post on just her poses, the girl has some moves). And what is Jared you ask.....
He is a Justin Bieber fan of course. (Yes, he is wearing my skirt and my flip flops-which are too small) His friend at school came up with the great idea of mocking the singing sensation and surprisingly Jared was actually game. Allen just shook his head, but hey, they came in 3rd place.

happy halloween!

After a night of trunk or treating and a night of trick or treating, I think we finally have enough candy. Both nights we kept calling Claire our "little angel" ...and Carter our "little mad hatter"...and Jared our "little skeleton pirate..thing, wait, what are you again Jared?"

halloween blues

Jared has the Halloween blues. Not because he doesn't like the holiday, but because he likes it so much and I,his mom, doesn't like to decorate the house in the same fashion as he does. He did not appreciate my "fall decorations" of pewter pumpkins. In years past, he and Carter were satisfied with the ghosts I gave them for their rooms. But this year that wasn't enough for Jared. And so he took it upon himself to rummage up anything halloweeny he could find to decorate our front porch. He even made a little ghost and taped it onto the brick. It was so cute and so sad at the same time. These are the sad pictures at the beginning of the post. I was so proud of his initiative and realized how desperately he wanted this, that I gave in and let me pick out just a few decorations. And so Jared's blues are gone. Happy Halloween!
