lunch box

Do you like Carter's new lunch box? Funny story....last school year Carter lost his lunch box at school. I made him take the old, small lunch box. Then one time he was staying with his Mimi and she said he could have one of hers. He lost it about a week later. And Carter actually doesn't lose things. He still has his original phone, his i-touch, etc. His mistake was putting them on top of his locker and assuming they would still be there...welcome to public school, Carter. Anyway, at the start of this school year he needed a new one. I told him I would buy one more and then he would be buying the rest. I was at Target and called him to ask if he wanted red or blue. He said red. I also was shopping for a new family cooler. I decided to get the larger version of the red lunch box and have some fun. When I presented Carter with his "new lunch box" he just looked at it and said, I am NOT taking that to school! I explained that I bought him this one so that he couldn't lose it. He repeated, I am NOT taking that to school. I started to laugh but kept saying it was his lunch box. He started to laugh too, but continued saying, I am NOT taking that to school! I finally pulled out his real lunch box and he was quite relieved. Have I mentioned that Carter can be quite gullible.

school days

It's that time again. Another school year has begun. Obviously, I no longer have any say in what the boys wear the first day of school. But that's ok, because I still have Claire...
And Claire always loves what I pick out for her, because it is always a dress, and she still prefers to wear a dress over anything else. This year she got a new backpack...
and new shoes. She loves them both.

raft, camp, jump, slide, and float

We ended the summer by going up to the mountains and enjoying the stream that runs down it; in several different ways. We started by going on a white water rafting trip with about 80 of our closest friends. That number went down to 6 families that stayed and camped. The next morning 4 families headed over to a new place for us, The Sinks. It was a fun part of the water that you can jump off a cliff and slide down a large rock. Then 2 families went on and floated down the stream in inner tubes. A nice relaxing way to end our trip to the mountains.

Allen, Jared and I at our campsite, right next to the water-so pretty

Jared made our fire, of course

Here is the rock they had to climb up...

and over...

to get to the slide (Carter is about to go down)

border's books

With Border's going out of business, we stopped in with the kids and let them each pick a book. Can you tell which one is Claire's?
