March Madness

March madness was tailored made for Carter. Competition, rewards, and anyone can win if they try hard enough. So we decided to let our family experience the of the high of gambling. The reward: a pound bag of candy. We couldn't do cash, that would just be wrong. But nothing is wrong with candy. Right? And so Monday night was spent filling out our brackets. Shockingly, Carter took the longest to fill his out. He studied the numbers, he figured out the odds, he pronounced team names wrong (Xavier, Marquette and Syracuse to name a few). I helped Claire fill her bracket out and realized she was going with the longest name when she kept saying she picked the "tallest" one. Unfortunately Chattanooga and East Tennessee State are long names. Jared was all over the board but a faithful UT fan to the end. He had them winning it all. We wish Jared, we wish. I took the "look and pick quick" style and so far it is doing pretty well(actually mine and Carter's brackets look very similar-what does that mean?). Allen had a big advantage on us all but has not run away with it...yet. For the past two days if you are looking for the boys, they are probably going to be found sitting watching a game, while marking the sheets. If there are no games on, they can be found either outside playing b-ball or playing b-ball on the PS3.

here are our champion picks:

Allen: Louisville

Julie: Memphis

Carter: Memphis

Jared: Tennessee

Claire: Utah State

Very cool! Love the picture of the tournament brackets. If Allen wins, does he get a bag of "chocolate" candy? :)Dad says he thinks perhaps the winner will be North Carolina. I'm guessing Louisville---but mostly because I've been there so many times. Knowing Carter's competitive spirit, I hope his team wins. I'd say the same for Jared, but UT just isn't going to do it this year.

Joel - Believe me, both boys get on me for being a Memphis-hater...considering both of them were born there. However, I just can't bring my self to ever, ever, ever, ever, ever root for "Tiger High"
