1 mile

This past weekend was the Knoxville marathon. The day before they held a 1 mile run for kids. Parents were welcome to join them. Carter turned up his nose a little to just ONE mile. (He is dying to try a marathon, seriously. If we said yes, he would have tried to run it. He was sure he could do it. Which is totally Carter) But when we found out that they would be ending their one measly mile running into Neyland Stadium and the finish line was the 50 yard line, he was more interested. And so was Allen. And so was Allen's dad, Grand dad. So, Carter ran on his own with me and Mimi there to pick him up. Allen and Jared ran together. And Grand dad and Claire (yes, Claire!) "ran" together. Grand dad walked and let Claire run to the next balloon marking the way and would wait for him and then go to the next. There is nothing cuter than Claire running across the football field while wearing a runners bib and a huge smile. The pictures are good, but I wish I had video.

looks like they had lots of fun, even Allen. I love the picture of Claire crossing the finish line. She was very proud of herself

Great pictures!! So sweet of Claire to wait for Grand Dad.
So sweet! Did Carter get a time for the run? Were there awards? (age categories?)

looks like you all were either in first or last place. where are all the people?

btw, when i was about carter's age and ran in a 10K my training consisted of dad making me run like 3 miles around the FHS track a day or two before the event (that's all we had time for before it got dark).

so i'm thinking if you add a couple more laps in there and also maybe get him a high performance tanktop he'd totally be ready for a marathon.

So awesome, your family should get some sponsors or something.

Awesome story. But you never told us who won. Not that it matters...
